11/16 class

Dear Class,

Today I have 3 blog entries for you to write. --Please remember to use "spell check."  Please ask if you don't know how spell check works.

1) Thanksgiving is a time in the U.S. that we stop and think about things we are thankful for. Please write a paragraph of about 10 sentences telling what you are thankful for in your life.

2) You have studied very hard in the ALP in all of your classes.  Please write a paragraph of about 10 sentences telling something interesting you learned in one of your other classes. (It doesn't have to be specifically about English, but can be about the information you learned about something. -- For example you could tell about a person, group of people, or thing you read in Reading or Vocabulary class.  Or something you learned in your elective class.)

3) What do you plan to do over your Thanksgiving vacation? --Will you travel, go shopping, spend time with family/friends, enjoy relaxing? -- Please write 3-4 sentences telling what you will do.

Thank you!

See you Friday!

11/9 Class

Good morning!

Today, I have two things I want you to do:

A) Blog Journal - If you could change places with any person for a day, who would you change places with and why? Please explain who the person is (if they are not famous) and why you would like to change places with them.

B) Blog Journal comments - Some of you know how to do the comments on the blog, but other people do not. If you don't know, please ask me. When you leave comments, you need to choose "Anonymous," but please write your name so you get points. If I don't see your name on any comments, you won't get any points for your comment.
When you comment, you're not looking for grammar mistakes, but you are commenting on the content (information) of the blog.

1)Please read and write 2 comments on students' blogs for "Traveling to a different country can be both exciting and frustrating at the same time. What are the most important pieces of advice that you would give visitors coming to your country?"

2)Please read and write 2 comments on students' Halloween/scary story blogs.

3)Please read and write 3 comments on students' blog "If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why."

Please tell me when you finish these things to find out your next assignment.

Monday's homework for Wednesday's class

Here is the story below.

Halloween Story

I went trick-or-treating with my friends ___________, ___________, and ___________. Our bags were full of candy, and it was getting late, so my friends wanted to go home.

I wanted more chocolate bars, so I said to my friends, “Let’s go to a few more houses and then go home.”

They were worried because they thought it was too late. “Let’s go home now,” they said to me. I told them not to worry because we could take a short road through the old forest.

So after a few more houses, I took my friends to the road that went through the forest. We walked about 20 minutes, and then, suddenly, I felt very strange. I couldn’t remember how to go home! It was dark and foggy. We were lost. And then, it started to rain. Lightning was in the sky and thunder rang in our ears. We walked in the rain for two hours. We were very wet and very cold. At midnight, I saw an old house on a hill.

"I think we’ll have to spend the night in that old house and wait till morning,” I said.

My friends didn’t think it was a good idea, but they were cold and wet, so they said “Yes.” We walked up the old wooden steps to the front door. The door opened loudly. We went inside, sat down, and started to eat a chocolate bar, when . . .
